Web10 aug. 2024 · It’s a slim and elderly hardback from the famous (in Germany) publishing house Insel. I inherited it from my husband, who winnows his library by offering unwanted books to me. This pretty much never results in books being thrown out. And never if they are from Insel. Rilke in German is marvelous. Many beautiful and resonant poems. A chicken hawk flies over, evening approaches, and the speaker says, mysteriously, "I have wasted my life."
