I first tried underclocking it by 100mhz to see if that would help, but when that didnt help, I fiddled with the power limit and while increasing it had no effect, lowering it seemed to improve stability. When you get to say a 2070, you'll have the same amount of video memory (8GB iirc), but it will be GDDR6 which will run at 14000 MHz effective. Some of the 30xx series cards have 10GB or more and the same for the 40xx series with 12GB or more. When playing Overwatch or any other game (recently Need For Speed Payback) at maximum settings, the game always crash!. I have to use Nvidia Debug Mode in order to restore clock base and I don't have any black screen on startup.
