Plant them at the right time, and they will stay young, palatable and green throughout the fall. FWIW, I did an experiment about 10 years ago. I planted a 1 acre food plot - 1/2 in BFO and 1/2 in regular oats from co-op. WebJan 27, 2008 · Our seed merchant pushes the Buck Forage Oats, and why wouldn't he. We have used the BFO and the plain old oats (Coker). We can't see any difference. Maybe under controlled conditions you could justify it because of increased forage or some sort, but our food plots are anything but "controlled".
